The first thing you notice about this product is the fact that it is levitating, then you notice it is spinning using just the power from the sun! Six ultra strong neodymium magnets keep it levitating. The motor is powered by four super efficient monocrystalline solar cells. Each cell only produces electricity when it is facing upwards. This eliminates the need for any electric and mechanical connection to the axle in order to transfer electricity (as found in normal electric motors).

A custom electric motor armature is built with a solar panel on top of each motor coil. The 4 coils and solar panels are superbly balanced and the whole armature is then suspended/levitated with magnets so it is as friction free as possible.

You just need a little sunshine, give it a twist and its off. In bright light it gets faster and faster until the panels are a blur. As each monocrystalline solar panel faces the light source it creates electricity which is fed to a coil below. This becomes electromagnetic and is attracted to the large magnet below the armature. As it pulls the armature round a new panel begins to face the light source and the whole cycle is repeated.

One word of warning. These are not designed for children and wont be any good for people that are not dexterous. You need to VERY careful when setting it as it up and moving it. It is made of solar panels, glass and really powerful magnets! Most people will not have any problems but you should be very careful with it.
